To keep pace with gastrointestinal surgery's latest progress and further the exchanges of fundamental research results, clinical diagnosis, and treatment technology, the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University has held four International Symposiums on Gastrointestinal surgery (Chongqing) biennially since 2011.
In 2019, the fifth International Symposium was renamed Chongqing International Forum on Gastrointestinal Surgery. The Forum attracted well-known experts and scholars from home and abroad to discuss the latest advances and cutting-edge scientific research in gastrointestinal surgery. The Forum aimed to carry out academic exchanges on diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal tumors, minimally invasive treatment of gastrointestinal diseases, ERAS, surgical nursing, etc. MDT discussion seminar, live-streaming of surgery, and online surgical skills contests were conducted at the Forum. Participants also discussed the hot issues in gastrointestinal surgery. These activities at the Forum were designed to promote cooperation in this field and build a good platform for clinical and basic research of gastrointestinal surgery. The Forum provides clinicians, nurses, and researchers with the opportunities to showcase their work, share experiences, and keep pace with the latest developments.
